Skillet chocolate cake with ice cream


* 1 cup flour

* Half a teaspoon of baking soda

* 1 cup sugar

* dash salt

* 1/4 cup (half a stick) butter

* 1/4 cup vegetable oil

* 2 tablespoons cocoa powder

* 1/2 cup water

* 1/4 cup of milk

* 1 egg

* 1/2 teaspoon vanilla


* 1/4 cup (half a stick) butter

* 2 tablespoons cocoa

3-4 tablespoons milk (as needed for consistency)

* 1/2 cup chopped cashews

* 2 cups of powdered sugar

* 1/2 teaspoon vanilla

* Ice cream (for serving)

* Caramel sauce (for serving, these are delicious!)

Whip cream (for serve )

Methods :

Preheat oven to 350°F, in a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, sugar and salt and set aside.

In a 10-inch cast iron skillet, boil the butter, vegetable oil, cocoa powder, and water.

Remove from the heat and mix the dry ingredients well. Mix milk, eggs and vanilla. Bake the pan cake at 350°F for 15-20 minutes or until a toothpick comes out with a few moist crumbs.

While the cake begins to cool, prepare the decorations. In a medium saucepan, bring the butter, cocoa and milk to a boil. Remove from heat and add powdered sugar, nuts and vanilla. Stir until smooth.

Pour over warm cake, brush with spoon, and serve with vanilla ice cream, caramel sauce and whipped cream.
